About the event
The Sotheby’s Summer Art Academy is an immersive arts and leadership experience for high school students, presented in partnership with Prep for Prep. Over five intensive weeks, students visited NYC’s leading museums and galleries, met working artists and curators, studied critical theory and art history, and created their own works across mediums.
From drawing at the Art Students League, to throwing pottery at Uptown Clay, to exclusive sessions with curators at MoMA and The Met, students learned what it means to tell stories through objects — and to take up space as young artists and curators.
The summer culminates in this public exhibition, where students apply everything they’ve learned about curation, critique, and creative collaboration.
